ARTIST STATEMENT

'I want to challenge the viewer's perception and encourage them to engage with the work on a deeper level. Using layering and distorting techniques in my paintings and projections is an attempt to add an element of complexity and invites the viewer to spend more time with the work in order to fully understand and appreciate it. By intentionally manipulating familiar patterns and stimuli, I want to encourage the viewer to question their own perception and understanding of reality. This can be a thought-provoking and immersive experience for the viewer as they try to decipher the various elements and meanings within the work"

EXHIBITIONS

CONTINUITY

22 - 26 July 2022

1 Bowen Ave, Auckland

Continuity is defined by the unbroken and consistent existence or operation of something over time. This body of work plays with the parameters of figuration, abstraction, architecture, landscape, colour, scale and optical illusion.  Drawing inspiration from contemporary found imagery, the subjects are manipulated and interwoven in a way that alludes movement and sensation. The experience of the work is a consistent unravelling process, the more you spend time with the work, the more you will discover.

For the opening night, we collaborated with chef, Anthony Price, where we provided a sensuous art and food experience.
